Force Diagrams
Forces When a Ball Is Rolling
One of the forces happening is gravity pulling the ball to the ground then the ground is pushing back on the soccer ball which is called contact force. Then as the ball is moving forward friction is trying to stop the ball from moving. You can see that the motion arrow is longer then the friction arrow because in this case the motion is over coming the friction.
Forces When Kicking a Soccer Ball
One of the forces happening when you kick a soccer ball is gravity, no matter what gravity is always acting on a object. There is also air resistance that wants the ball to stop moving. The last force is the force that you apply on the soccer ball for it to overcome air resistance.
Forces When a Soccer Ball is Stationary
When the ball is stationary then there are only two forces acting on it. There is gravity pulling it down and keeping it from floating in the air. Then there is also contact force that is where the ground is pushing back at the ball.
